It's not news that Naijas are very into whats posh and whats not. The 'cool crowd' claim never to cross the third mainland bridge towards the mainland to experience the life of people on the 'other side'. Instead they stay on the Island where there is relative safety, the air is less polluted, the breeze is cooler and more recently they stay on the Island to enjoy Red Oak Food's Plantain Chips, the new posh nosh on the cool streets of Lagos. It's available in a variety of flavours for just N100 per pack but before you dash out to buy some please be aware that they are currently only available on the Island only, you know; VI, Ikoyi, Marina, Lekki..etc
Sorry Mainlanders, apparently other brands of plantain chips cost N50 on your side of the world so do the maths, obviously they're better off selling to the 'cool crowd' LOL! but the next time you're on Lagos Island you must get them in ALL flavours and let me know which you like best. My favourite flavour is 'Pepper'. Its spicy and absolutely delish!
Sssshhh!!! That's my only claim to street cool..I nosh on posh plantain chips..Heee! hee!
Been eating them for about a year and i always bring some back with me to London. My favourite is the unriped plantain one.
ReplyDeleteReally? Hmmm I haven't tried that one..they seem to have like 7 flavours or more..but like a task I'll try it tomorrow..:)
ReplyDeleteUnripe plantain type = pure unadulterated plantain chips without drama. It’s not salty as well. I find most of the others salty especially the chilli and the onion flavoured one. Enjoy. They are fab!
