Nigeria's number one men's style magazine ModeMen hit the big 5 and to celebrate the men (and ladies) came out to play on Friday the 22nd at the Grand Ballroom, Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The vision and brain child of Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa, ModeMen set out to create a suave magazine that represents style and simplicity for upwardly mobile Nigerian men. It set itself a standard to be the best in Nigeria with a quality product that would set it miles apart from the rest which it successfully acheived and 5 years on, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of ModeMen, Abubakar continues to move his dream for ModeMen forward as he looks to the future for many more years of serving Nigeria the best publication for men to date.
Like the art of publishing a classy magazine, at 5 years old, ModeMen have certainly perfected the art of throwing a good party too. The dress code was simple; Men: Black, Women: Gold. Friends of the house, celebrities, advertisers, subscribers etc turned out to make it a memorable one. The food was absolutely delish! (My first real deliciously juicy calamari in Naija for ages...Wow!) Cocktails and tipples flowed like an open tap courtesy of Hennessy. There was certainly no dull moment as comedian after comedian we were left reeling in laughter and just in case we were not entertained enough, we had musical performances by MI, Prince, FEMI (yup the capital F-E-M-I) and lots more, including fashion shows by Mai Atafo, Disciples by Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa and Clothes Afrique.
It was a truly stylish Lagos P-A-R-T-Y the ModeMen way...
Five hearty cheers to The Mode Men Team at 5 from Seriously Doughnuts...Hip! Hip! Hip! Hurray !
