It was a triple celebration for the Alakija family on the 16th of July 2011 as Mrs Folorunsho Alakija (former President of Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria 1995 - 2001 and Vice Chairman, Famfa Oil, Nigeria) celebrated her 60th birthday, 35th Wedding Anniversary with hubby, Mr Modupe Alakija (Chairman, Famfa Oil) and the 3rd birthday of her granddaughter in an exclusive celebration simply tagged; THE ALAKIJAS CELEBRATE...
Mrs Folorunsho Alakija whose early days as a fashion designer and whose fashion design outfit was responsible for Nigeria's most stylish first lady, the Late Mrs Maryam Babangida's fabulous wardrobe and acclaimed style statements looked every inch gorgeous as she stepped out with her husband and children on her big day!
Seriously Doughnuts was granted front row PRESS access and what a mind-blowing event it was. From the credit card size access cards which served as invites, it was evident that the event was going to be one that would be talked about in Lagos for years to come. A-list event planners, Elizabeth R, planned and co-ordinated the event from start to finish. Ibidun Ighodalo, Creative Director of Elizabeth R was visible throughout the day ensuring everything moved on smoothly like clock work.
The event started with a thanksgiving service at the beautiful, Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina Lagos, which saw special guests such as Mrs Aderemi Tinubu and was followed by a truly lavish celebration at the Expo Hall, Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, where a reception had been set out to welcome 3000 guests.
As expected, the strictly by invite event saw the arrival of Nigeria's 'creme de la creme' , socialites, politicians and in true 'Mrs Folorunsho Alakija' style, the celebration was super-classy from champers to the vast choice of delicacies..it was simply fantastic!
